The Career Center supports substantive on-campus experiential learning through the Temple University Internship Program (TUIP). Temple University departments provide engaging experiential learning, students develop valuable skills and utilize knowledge from the classroom while building strong campus connections, and the Career Center offers resources and support for students, faculty, and staff throughout.

Requirements for departments to participate in TUIP
- The internship should be for approximately 10-15 hours a week and the department pays at least $10 an hour.
- The internship must have specific goals and objectives, including an opportunity to contribute to a significant portion of a project or research. For example: A student updating data analysis for an existing program or a student managing a contest campaign for an existing social media platform.
- The internship must connect to the students' academic or career interests.
- Supervisors/mentors must share constructive weekly or bi-weekly feedback with the intern on their performance.
- Interns will evaluate and reflect on their TUIP experiences. Supervisors will also evaluate their interns.
- Students are NOT able to receive credit for their TUIP internships.
- Interns may work remotely, in-person, and/or hybrid, under direction of their supervisors. Interns must have a designated workspace if they are in the office.
TUIP Hiring Process
- TUIP internship supervisors/mentors post the internships on Handshake for students to apply. (Optional)
- After the application deadline, supervisors review all applications.
- TUIP supervisors manage the interview process by selecting students to interview, scheduling interviews, and extending the internship offer.
- After selecting the best candidate, supervisors or hiring managers match the intern’s information in Taleo for the intern to log hours and to get paid.
There are two (2) ways you can fund the internship listed under the funding section below.
TUIP Marketing to Students
After supervisors/hiring managers have posted their TUIP internships on Handshake (the Career Center's internship and job site accessible to all students), the Career Center will help promote internships to undergraduate students.
If you have any questions about TUIP or posting on Handshake, please reach out to the Associate Director of Internships and Experiential Learning Holly Logan at holly@temple.edu.
