Serafima Ardasheva

College of Science and Technology ‘27

Intern
Sensory Physiology Lab in the Department of Cellular & Molecular Physiology at Yale School of Medicine

My name is Serafima (Sima) Ardasheva (she/her).  I am a Materials Science, May 2027, and a member of the Women’s Rowing Team.

During this internship, I performed computational analysis in order to 3d reconstruct a specific touch-sensitive nerve ending - Pacinian Corpuscle. My contribution to the project mainly resulted in the creation of figures for a scientific paper that is currently under review (to be published later this year & I’m one of the authors).

I acquired new skills including working with Arivis 4d software and learned a lot about academia (e.g., how to structure reports, how to efficiently read/scan through paper for relevant information)

My favorite part of this internship: Challenging myself on learning about something I’m unfamiliar with - sensory physiology. That’s a field I’ve never been previously exposed to but I absolutely loved learning about it!

Tips for anyone looking to get an internship: Learn to write good emails, make sure you are being concise and clear
