Gift of Life Donor Program, Howie’s House

Hi! My name is Julia Stricker and I am an incoming senior graduating in May 2025! I am an Advertising major with a Communication Studies minor and I am a member of Temple Advertising Club! This summer I am interning with Gift of Life Donor Program, Howie’s House as a Communications & Development Intern!

As a part of the communications & development team, I am assisting with social media posts and other community outreach methods. I assist in writing copy for posts, articles, blogs, etc. I also keep up with our social media analytics to determine what is beneficial and what is not. Along with those tasks, you can also find me assisting in thanking generous donors.

I am being prepared for the future through the team work and collaboration that goes on in the office. Everything that is accomplished here is accomplished as a team, which is something that is so vital to success. I am also working with new software that I haven’t worked with before. Overall, I feel as if I am learning new things everyday!

My favorite part of this internship is the non-profit aspect of it. Working for a non-profit has been so rewarding in knowing my work is helping people. It has provided me with a newfound passion for advocating for organ donation.

A tip for anyone looking for an internship: Be patient! Everything comes with time. Be confident in yourself and know that you are meant to be where you are. Use your resources around you, everyone wants you to succeed!
