Hi! My name is Emily Miller (she/her). I just graduated with my B.A. in psychology. I will be starting my M.Ed in counseling psychology this fall at Temple’s CEHD. Outside of my academics I love to cook, try new restaurants, and tend to my plants.

My ultimate goal is to become a licensed counselor in Philadelphia, where I can provide compassionate, accessible mental health care to adolescents in underserved and marginalized communities.

Far too often, mental health is treated as a privilege when it should be a basic human right. The disparities in access to care are stark, especially for young people navigating complex social, emotional, and environmental challenges without the support they deserve. I want to be part of changing that—by showing up, listening deeply, and helping young people feel seen and supported.

The career center has helped me achieve my goals by helping me prepare for my grad school interviews. The Career Coaches were awesome!  They gave me useful interview tips and advice I will carry with me forever.

Along with 1 on 1 coaching, I also used big interview to practice. Both of these resources were super useful in helping me mitigate my pre interview anxiety and go into these interviews feeling confident.

As an undergrad student we often have very little experience with interviews, but the folks at the career center can have you feeling like an interview expert in no time.

Definitely do not be afraid to ask for help and use the resources available to you. Whether it be searching for a job, or applying to graduate programs, both processes can be so overwhelming, but Temple has awesome faculty ready to help you navigate your journey, so please reach out and do not go through it alone.

If you are anything like me and have anxiety about reaching out or asking for help, just do it anyway! You will thank yourself after.
