Carly Krieger
Fox School of Business ‘25
Mainframe Architect intern
Kyndryl
My name is Carly Krieger (she/her) and I am a rising senior at Temple graduating in May 2025. I am majoring in Management Information Systems with a minor in Information Technology Innovation. I am involved in the Business Honors Student Association and the Association of Information Systems. I worked in Residential Life as an RA in Morgan South for the past two years. Last summer I worked as a Business Technology intern at Power Home Remodeling in Chester, PA.
This summer, I am a Mainframe Architect intern at Kyndryl working in their Dallas office. I have been learning lots of new technical skills and have been able to work on projects helping clients manage their data and infrastructure. Some of our clients are banks, airlines, and transportation companies, so our work is very critical.
At my internship, I have been learning technical skills, earning certifications, and networking with industry professionals to help give me a leg up when it comes time to begin my career post graduation.
My favorite part of my internship besides everything I’m learning, has been my experience with the other interns. Moving to Dallas for the summer was very new and exciting. I have met so many amazing friends and have explored Dallas. These connections will certainly last after the internship.
My greatest tip for searching for internships is to network. I know everyone says that, but it is true. I believe your chances of applying online are very slim if you do not have a connection to someone in the company. My first internship I found through connecting with Temple MIS alums on LinkedIn and that eventually led to an interview. My most recent internship I met my recruiter at the IT career fair and was able to have an in person conversation with her before applying. Unfortunately a resume is just a piece of paper sometimes, try connecting with people in the company so you can show your personality and put a face to the name so they remember you when you apply.
